i dont think deffence is a good idea, you want to kill ASAP to avoid those guns.

Yes, I think I have everything I need now. I don't loose many battles in match made anymore. I just vertified that some units really are totally useless.

Yarben, if you ever want to learn FOTS for fun. I can tell my knowledge about it. I know more than average I think. I would post it here if anyone cares of it Razz

Shogitai are great unit, but I was wondering if 100 extra koku to make them even faster would be wise.

I don't even own fots so i can't help you here. But from what i have seen fots units are mostly used vanilla or on low lvl.

about the speed. It won't make any difference with an initial charge. But late game when you are skirmishing it will make a lot of difference.

About the shogitai. A charge in tight formation does way more damage than in loose formation.
Like Tajens said, if you have the micro, keep them in loose and change at the last second

For upgrades, i suggest playing it safe with 2 upgrades on attack and leave it as that. Any more and it will not be cost efficient, since they already cost 1k vanilla. Speed is very nice in FOTS but not worth the upgrade on shogitai imo.

As for your loose formation question. If you have the micro for it, leave them in loose when charging and just as they get near the enemy, reform into tight formation. Loose formation is for reducing casualties when taking missile fires, tight is for malee combat.

Does anyone know of any tests done to shogitai units in FOTS?
I was thinking to give it either 1 attack and 1 defense upgrade, Or is it better to have 2 upgrades in attack.

Also, how important is to get +2 speed?
I saw that in flat terrain red bears got to shoot 2 times, and if shogitai are tired, even 3 volleys. Does Speed save them from second volley?

Third question is about loose/tight formation. I did run 1 test, and it seems like in loose formation shogitais gets less casualities but killing takes over 25 seconds (even 40 seconds). In tight formation they loose more units per volley but they finish red bears almost instantly. Is this a standard thing or just a mare coincidence?
